Melissa Cote, professionally known as Mhell BlackLeather (born 1 April 1994) is a Canadian-Quebecker lead vocalist and songwriter. She was the lead vocalist for the rock band Mhell & The Lefties in 2012 but it split up in 2013. Ten years later, on the 16 November 2022, she was lead vocalist for the traditional heavy metal band 8RED/EightRed but the band split up on the 22 April 2022 with only one single called Queen Of The Dark, and then embarked on a successful Rock N' Metal band on the 25 April 2022 called BlackLeather N' Flame.

Mélissa Côté, professionnellement connue sous le nom de Mhell BlackLeather (née le 1er avril 1994) est une chanteuse et compositrice canadienne-québécoise. Elle était la chanteuse principale du groupe de rock Mhell & The Lefties en 2012 mais celui-ci s'est séparé en 2013. Dix ans plus tard, le 16 novembre 2022, elle était la chanteuse principale du groupe de heavy metal traditionnel 8RED/EightRed mais le groupe s'est séparé le 22 avril 2022 avec un seul single intitulé Queen Of The Dark, puis se lance dans un groupe de Rock N' Metal à succès le 25 avril 2022 appelé BlackLeather N' Flame.

Early life

Mhell was born to Christian Cote and Lyne Jalbert in Beauport, Quebec. When she was 4 years old, her parents broke up and she went to live on the South Shore in Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, with her mother. As an adult, Mhell was back on the North Shore, in Quebec City.

Inspired by Doro's work with Warlock and Lita Ford's work in her solo career, she began singing at the age of 5.

Beginnings

In 2012, at the age of eighteen, BlackLeather was recruited as lead vocalist and songwriter by Pascal Badorg to join the rock band Mhell & The Lefties. The band lasted for about a year but due to feuds among the band members, they split up in 2013.

Ten years later, in 2022, Mhell BlackLeather worked at a gas station. It was there that she met Eric Laflamme, known professionally as Ric Flame, a multi-virtuoso mastering drums, bass and guitar. BlackLeather was recruited as lead vocalist and helper-songwriter by Flame, the drummer for the Traditional Heavy Metal band 8RED/EightRed on the 16 November 2022, but it only lasted til 22 April 2022 with only one Single called Queen Of The Dark.

BlackLeather N' Flame History

Mhell BlackLeather and Ric Flame, after playing together in the band 8RED/EightRed, formed BlackLeather N' Flame band in the early 2020s. In 2022, they began producing their debut album titled Dark Lady and it contains 15 songs. The album Dark Lady is a work of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal influenced from the 80s and 90s.

BlackLeather is always lead vocalist and songwriter and Flame is now the main lead guitarist in BlackLeather N' Flame despite he does play all the instruments during the studio production.

Début de la vie

Mhell est née de Christian Côté et Lyne Jalbert à Beauport, Québec. À l'âge de 4 ans, ses parents se séparent et elle part vivre sur la Rive-Sud à Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, avec sa mère. Adulte, Mhell était de retour sur la Rive-Nord, à Québec.

Inspirée par le travail de Doro avec Warlock et par le travail de Lita Ford dans sa carrière solo, elle a commencé à chanter à l'âge de 5 ans.
